Size 6 Diapers

Size 6 Diapers.  The maximum size that most manufacturers make diapers is size 6, and at two  and a half years old, BJ is currently wearing this maximum size. We are planning to potty train soon, but it's quite unnerving to think that he's reached the max.  I don't understand how some kids remain in diapers until they are 3 or 4 years old.  Where do these parents get their diapers from???  BJ isn't necessarily the skinniest child, but he's not the chubbiest either! Ugh.

I guess it's time to get serious about potty training.  We've started to introduce the idea of "sitting on the toilet", and he has peed once or twice when actually sitting on the toilet, but he hasn't figured out the concept of letting us know when he has to go.

If anyone has any tips for potty training little boys, please let me know. I would appreciate any hints and tips!

  1. Hi! We did the no diaper no underwear no nothing for three days...he had several accidents the first day, one or two accidents the second day, and he was all good the third day. He was going dry throughout the night for a while but we still put pull-ups on him. We tried to do my daughter at the same time but she wasn't quite ready...but about a month later, she started peeing on the potty too and has been good since then. We haven't figured out doodoo in the potty, though. Also, my son is a year older than yours and he was wearing 5s before he stopped diapers...when he was having the runs we put him in sister's 4s and it was still good enough...maybe your son isn't really fully outgrowing the diapers yet...

  2. oh, also, we had him stand up and pee...he seemed to like that better. and when we started we did 2 m&ms for each successful pee in the potty. boys are messy, though, so be ready for the pee smelling bathroom because even if you think aiming is easy, it's actually not! lol. good luck!!! he'll do it when he's ready!

  3. The no diapers didnt work for us. Ours was a reward system. Chocolate milk for each time he made pee in potty and a sweet treat for dodo. after 1 month, he stopped asking for it!
